Diving Layang Layang & the Spratly Islands

The S/Y Oriental Siren will be diving in the Layang Layang and the Spratly Islands from May to July, sailing from Kota Kinabalu.
As one of the largest states in South East Asia, Malaysia offers varied diving areas and plenty of opportunity for exploration. Split into three main regions – Peninsula Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah with many islands dotted in between. Malaysia is known for fantastic dive sites of Pulau Sipadan, Layang Layang and Pulau Tioman, the clear blue warm waters are home to hammerhead sharks, turtles and some of the best coral reefs and marine diversity. Malaysia doesn;t just hold appeal for divers, there are also several national parks and trekking opportunities.
The SY Oriental Siren is a traditional twin mast junk built from the finest Asian teak and ironwood.
Layang Layang, also known as Swallows Reef, is the most renowned island in the Spratly Island chain, situated in the South China Sea. These remote islands have been claimed by Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and China and during our 10 night safari we will dive and explore the Malaysian governed islands. Hammerhead sharks are one of the main draws of this little explored diving hot spot, with reefs providing a haven and necessary cleaning stop for the travelling sharks.

The S/Y Oriental Siren – luxury liveaboard vessel
Boat Description
The 34 metre S/Y Oriental Siren is built from the finest Asian teak and ironwood. She is a traditional twin mast junk, rigged with traditional style sails that are both functional and beautiful. Thus she has been custom-made with all the luxury facilities for the modern diver.
She was built in Thailand in 2008 and shall continue to sail the waters of the Andaman Sea.
Aboard the S/Y Oriental Siren we welcome up to 14 guests aboard each trip. This ensures abundant space for all guests. However, she has the facilities and ample room to host up to 16 guests on special charters.

- Each cabin is fitted with an individual computer and multiple power sources to facilitate the needs of digital photography. The computer features high-end specifications and 20” high-definition flatscreens, which is integrated with the yachts network server in the saloon

- Large rinsing tanks with fresh water changed on a regular basis

- Diving at Button and Barren Islands, Havelock and Narcondam.
Diving the Best of Timor-Leste
- August – October, departing from Dili.
- Diving safari includes Atauro and Jako Islands and the northern shore sites east and west of Dili.
