8D7N Diving @ Sorido Bay Resort,
Raja Ampat, Indonesia!

Sorido Bay Resort is an upscale boutique resort central to the best diving in the Raja Ampat.

There are 7 bungalows nestled in the lush green jungle on a beautiful Cape overlooking a deep kidney-shaped lagoon, meters away from the world’s most famous dive-site ‘Cape Kri’; where Dr. Gerry Allen recorded 283 different species of fish in one dive. It made this not only the richest dive site known to science, but also the richest house reef anywhere in the world! Sorido Bay Resort is located a mere 1500 meters away from Kri-Eco Resort, around the eastern point of Kri island.

Patio outside Sentani cottage

The resort has been designed to offer true luxury; with air conditioning in all rooms, big bathrooms with double mirrors and washbasins, top quality linen on huge king-sized beds, satellite television, mini-bar fridge, and a camera workstation in every room. Open the double glass doors to a large deck with spectacular views of the lagoon at your feet.

The upstairs floors of the two main central buildings have a spacious lounge and dining area with endless views over the lagoon and islands. Here you can browse through the art shop stocked with authentic Papuan treasures or see a WWII paraphernalia collection from the founder. You will also find our library well stocked with more than enough reference material showcasing the many species of marine life + of the topside flora and fauna of this amazing area.

Meals are prepared in a modern kitchen; using only fresh produce bought locally from the villagers, or freshly caught fish from the local fisherman. Sorido Bay resort is for the discerning traveler. It is not just another dive-resort. Here you will discover people with a passion for Raja Ampat, and a passion for sharing it with the most important person of all: you, our guest.

Dive Sites

The number of dive sites which can be reached from the Resort are too many to mention individually.

Manta rays are present almost permanently at three locations close to the resort and guests thoroughly enjoy seeing them from up close. Often they are at touching distance and it is normal to see 10 to 15 Manta Rays during one dive. Furthermore there are a great number of breathtaking reefs that are truly teeming with life.

Most dives are drift dives due to strong currents in the area. The currents provide nutrients for the outstanding quantity and variety of fish life and corals in the area. A fabulous variety of colorful soft corals and plenty of reef fish are found at most sites. Large schools of fish are known to populate some areas, pelagics such as sharks, Manta and Mobula Rays, dolphin, whales and turtles are frequent sights.

Visibility is good, but not spectacular, and is best in the morning dives. The water temperature is 28°-29°C year round.

And if that is not enough, there are the Manokwari wreck dives. These are WW II wrecks which were only discovered relatively recently. Since diving in this region is still in it’s infancy, the wrecks have not been plundered as in Truk Lagoon, PNG, the Solomons, Vanuatu and other well-known wreck diving areas. By special arrangement, Papua Diving can schedule to dive wrecks in the Manokwari area (on the east side of the bird’s head).

Special Services

  • Bring your own group of 06 or more divers and we will arrange for you to have your own dive boat. This is ideal for photos or video trips!

This year a visit to Amsterdam Island for some Pioneer Diving and to visit the vast Leatherback Turtle nesting area is planned. Wayag, an area of beautiful landscapes, is a must-see location. We have found some world-class dive sites while exploring the area between our eco-resort and Wayag.

Some bungalows are located on the jetty itself, while the others have their own piers from the beach. All of them are traditionally built with local materials, such as round wood, bamboo, palm trees leaves – all lashed together with vines from the jungle.

Each building contains two sleeping rooms and at least one separate sitting area, furnished with locally made bamboo table, benches and hammocks. The guest accommodations are divided by partitions, and each room has sliding doors which can be closed for privacy.

Each room has 24-hour electricity, western style bed & mattress, mosquito net, an electric fan, chairs & desk, side tables & reading lamps.

There is also a camera table with several sockets where guests can work or charge their camera gear.

Housekeeping provides fresh drinking water and towels everyday to the room. Close to the sleeping accommodation, on land, are six very clean & spacious Indonesian style bathrooms (called mandis) for our guests to share.
